Snuggle and Pop!

Sitting on winter's doorstep, with only cotton shorts and a fitted singlet, it's time to pack up the sandals and make way for the slippers! What better way to get through the cold than to invest in some winter warmers to snuggle into on a rainy day. Here are some favourites for the season, low on cost, high on POP!
Starting with the 'jim jams' we have updated the old flannels to a more fashionable alternative, where else better to find this than at Peter Alexander! A two in one combo, the
'Whats Cooking' pyjama is a sleep tee with the sweetest polka dot oven mitts and lace detailing, not only is it light and comfy, but especially designed to keep your hands warm.
Second on the list are a new design by Bonds, bringing the comfort of your favourite feather doona to your feet with their new feather filled boot. With non slip gripping on the sole and contrast ankle ties, this cross between a fluffy sock and a slipper is the must have for feet this winter!
Finally we must not forget the most important item for our travels, (of course by travels we imply while we are on our way from the bed to the couch and from couch to the kitchen to make a hot mocha) ...a soft fluffy robe! Always irresistibly priced, Cotton On Body have the most affordable and fun range of sleepwear, the favourite this season being the Hooded Plush Gown, keeping your head warm along with the rest of your body. Available in 9 colours and prints, this final touch to the essential winter wardrobe will make sure everybody is ready to snuggle and pop!

Inspiring Designers!

"I don't want to focus on trend work," McNicol says. "I want to create pieces that will be wardrobe staples for ages." AUSTRALIAN MAGAZINE

With a fashion degree and experience with Italian label Costume National, local fashion designer Hannah McNicol has fulfilled her ambitions to have her label recognised in the local scene. Her flagship store in Sydney’s Paddington has given this designer invaluable experience in business, while exibiting her individual talents as a fashion designer. What Modapop loves is McNicol’s philosophy of “designers as adaptors”, where lifestyle is the primary influence for the designs she creates for her market. With a focus on enduring key wardrobe pieces, minimalism and soft contoured silhouettes, this label is the epitome of self direction, self confidence and self belief.

Watch them pop!

Polished runway, steamed garments and VIP allocations...

Today is Day 1 of the annual Rosemount Australian Fashion Week. Exhibiting Australia's best designers, competition has definitely stepped up, with the increase of emerging designers presenting their fresh perspective on fashion. Throughout the country, fashion and textile design institutions have popped up rapidly, in particular throughout Sydney and Melbourne, including The University of Technology Sydney, Whitehouse, Raffles, The Australian National University, TAFE, The Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology and FBI Fashion College. These tertiary facilities provide education, training, and mentoring for the future fashion designers of Australia, many of which are keen to make it to the runway, however this will become increasingly challenging as there are more institutions now than ever before. Raising the game play of young designers striving to make it to the top, it is truly the best of the best who make it to this exclusive fashion event.

Past graduates such as Dion Lee from Sydney Institute of Technology, Karla Špetić from East Sydney Technical College and Magdalena Velevska from UTS, have materialised the ultimate dream of an Australian fashion designer, presenting their work to Australia this week.

Best of luck to you all!
